This unit applies to the operation and maintenance of dozers to undertake earthworks projects.

This unit covers the process of using dozers to undertake earthwork operations and defines the standard required to: operate the machine safely; operate the machine's features and attachments consistent with operator manual; carry out day to day servicing and minor maintenance.

Start-up, park-up, shut-down and communication procedures are carried out in accordance with manufacturers' requirements. 
Dozer controls and functions, including blade tilt and pitch and ripper, are effectively used to complete a range of tasks. 
Safe towing of equipment and plant is carried out in accordance with the authorised equipment and/or connection capabilities. 
Dozers are driven onto/off low loaders in accordance with site and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and procedures. 
Inspection and fault finding are conducted in accordance with manufacturers' specifications and/or site requirements and reported. 
Routine operational servicing, lubrication and housekeeping tasks are carried out to manufacturers' and/or site requirements. 
Minor maintenance is carried out to manufacturers' and/or site requirements. 
Records are maintained in accordance with site requirements. 
Vehicle washing is carried out to manufacturers' specifications and/or site requirements and environmental aspects.
